London Architect Zaha Hadid will design new City of Miami Beach garage

Well known London based architect Zaha Hadid was awarded a 12.5 million dollar contract to design a new municipal parking garage for Miami Beach. In 2004 Hadid became the first woman to win the Pritzker prize for architecture. She was born in Iraq and grew up there during a time which was both liberal and economically stable. After attending convent school she went on to earn a degree in mathematics from the American University of Beirut and then moved on to study at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London.

The architectural firm has recently designed the the London Aquatics Centre for the London 2012 Summer olympics. It's an indoor swimming facility that has two 50 metre swimming pools and a 25 metre diving pool.
